British Airways should have notified all victims to confirm that they’ve been affected by the breach by now. The breach period took place between 10.58pm on 21 August 2018 and 9:45pm on 5 September 2018. If you made a payment during this period, you may be affected.

About the British Airways data breach

The British Airways data breach was revealed earlier this month when the airline admitted that they had been hit to a hack. Although the full details about how this happened have yet to be confirmed, it appears that payment data has been digitally skimmed.

We’re confident we can win the legal action we’ve launched. The new GDPR that came into force in May set out the duties companies have to protect data. We suspect that more could have been done, and that this breach was preventable.

It’s unusual for full payment card data to be comprised. In the British Airways data breach, the exposed data included full card numbers, expiry dates and security codes (CVV). The personal details of passengers were also exposed.

However, if you made any adjustments that required you to enter card information (such as paid seat reservations or in-flight meals), you may be affected.
