Samsung are recalling 2.8 million washing machines following 9 reports of injuries<\/em><\/p>\n

Samsung do not appear to be having a great year…<\/p>\n

Following the mass recall of the ‘exploding’ Samsung Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones<\/a>, they have now had to recall 2.8 million washing machines in the U.S., with reports that machines have caused injuries to consumers.<\/p>\n

Washing machines causing injuries<\/h2>\n

Samsung’s latest issue involves top-loading washing machines.<\/p>\n

Following 9 reported injuries, including a broken jaw, injured shoulder, and other impacts and fall-related injuries, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has published a report explaining the potential dangers and risks associated with the machines. In particular, the top of the machine was capable of detaching whilst in use. This is of course a massive cause for concern as it poses a serious risk of injury to consumers from the impact.<\/p>\n

Recalls<\/h3>\n

There were around 733 reports of the machine excessively vibrating, with some of them reporting that the tops had detached. It’s difficult to ascertain the number of machines that are capable of becoming detached while in use – as a safety precaution, Samsung has recalled 2.8 million machines.<\/p>\n

Affected models<\/h3>\n

As with many gadgets and home appliances, there are several models. Samsung’s recall involves 34 models which were sold between March 2011 and November 2016.<\/p>\n

Model numbers and serial information can be found on labels usually located on the back of the machine.<\/p>\n
