But the battle for many women rages on, and we represent people for cases here in England and Wales.<\/p>\n<p>Here, we will briefly cover the settlement in Scotland and how this affects vaginal mesh claimants in the rest of the UK.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>About the Johnson &amp; Johnson pelvic mesh settlements in Scotland<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Johnson &amp; Johnson pelvic mesh settlements in Scotland resulted in subsidiary company Ethicon agreeing to pay out a reported \u00a350m in damages to hundreds of women. It has been reported that representatives flew to Edinburgh prior to the coronavirus lockdown being enforced\u00a0 where the terms of the agreement were made.<\/p>\n<p>The settlements have been achieved without any admission of liability on behalf of Ethicon or J &amp; J. In group and multi-party cases like this, settlements without admissions of liability are common. For example, we have recovered over \u00a31.3m in damages (and counting) for victims of the infamous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.groupactionlawyers.co.uk\/pip-breast-implant-group-action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>PIP Breast Implant Scandal<\/strong><\/a>, and most of the Defendants have never accepted liability. Instead, settlements have been made without prejudice to liability, and many have been subject to confidentiality agreements.<\/p>\n<p>This is positive news and we are glad that women in Scotland will be able to benefit from the settlements and bring their fights for justice to a close.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Does this affect the rest of the UK?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Scottish Johnson &amp; Johnson pelvic mesh settlements will not have a direct legal impact on claims that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.groupactionlawyers.co.uk\/vaginal-mesh-implants-compensation-claims\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>we represent people for in England and Wales<\/strong><\/a>. England and Wales share a jurisdiction, but Scotland and its own legal jurisdiction, as does Northern Ireland.
