A J & J subsidiary companied is reportedly being sued for breast implants causing cancer. According to the legal case, a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary company who has manufactured breast implants for some 5 million women has left at least one woman with breast cancer.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s alleged that the Claimant developed breast implant-associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma, which is a rare form of T-cell lymphoma. She alleges that the cause of her cancer stems from being fitted with MemoryGel Siltex breast implants that are manufactured by Mentor Worldwide LLC; a subsidiary company of J & J.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There is yet to be any conclusive evidence to prove that the cancer has been caused as a direct result of the Claimant being fitted with the particular breast implants, but health regulators are reportedly looking at increasing figures of cases of women suffering from the such conditions where they are fitted with particular implants.<\/p>\n

The Claimant\u2019s case also alleges that J & J reportedly failed to comply with regularity requirements, although whether this is true or not may have a bearing on the suit itself. If any breast implants are causing cancer, this is a matter that needs close and careful attention.<\/p>\n

More research needed<\/strong><\/p>\n

More research is needed to look at the long-term health impacts of breast implants. We have recovered over \u00a31.2m in damages so far for women affected by the PIP Breast Implant scandal<\/strong><\/a>, which has also been linked to some cases of women developing cancer as a result of the silicone used in the products. One of the major issues with cases of breast implant causing cancer is that it can take years for anything to happen, so the long-term possibilities remain hard to determine.<\/p>\n

Although there is no suggestion that J & J has been up to the kind of behaviour that the PIP company was up to – i.e. secretly using non-medical grade silicone to keep operating costs down at the detriment of tens of thousands of women worldwide \u2013 any links between particular breast implants and cancer must never be ignored.<\/p>\n
